CT of Anatomic Variants of Sinonasal region and its correlation with symptoms of Rhinosinusitis

Background: Sinonasal region is subjected to wide anatomical variation. The paranasal sinuses (PNS) create a connection with nasal cavity. They are placed in close proximity nose. four paranasalsinuses ;maxillary, ethmoid, sphenoid, and frontal, named after their coinciding bone. Computed Tomography (CT Scan )is important modality describe the location of these sinuses. Aim: To ascertain frequency various anatomic variants sinonasal population Sahiwaland itsassociation symptoms rhinosinusitis. Methods: This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted Sahiwal Teaching Hospital from 10th June 2022 – December 2022, collaboration Radiology otorhinolaryngeology Departments. 60 symptomatic subjects between 18-60 years age, irrespective gender rhinosinusitiswere taken.They underwent CT findings related nasal-septum, turbinates, uncinate process, ethmoid air-cells other corresponded data analyzed using SPSS version 23.0. Frequency, percentages p-value different were calculated. ≤ 0.05 considered as significant. Results: Our showed 63.3% males 36.7% females. mean age our 30.65 + 12.7 years. most frequently seen septum deviation (86.7%) followed by aggernasi cells (68.3%) asymmetry both sides sphenoid (68.3%). statically significant association noted concha bullosa middle turbinate obstruction ( 0.001) rhinorrhea sinus 0.035) Practical Implications & Conclusion: We concluded that however there no rhinosinusitis except sinus.
